Explore new works by acclaimed artist Kura Te Waru-Rewiri (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Kahu, Ngāti Rangi, Ngāti Kauwhata), as she pays homage to the mareikura o ngā toi Māori (esteemed person with a mastery of Māori art), the late Marilynn Webb (Ngāpuhi, Te Roroa, Ngāti Kahu). Te Waru-Rewiri says “I am inspired by the ordered chaos of my friend Marilynn’s overgrown garden. I am responding to her practice, the depth of her colours and the stylistic rendering and mauri (life force) of her landscapes.”

Te Manawa Museum is also showing Te Waru-Rewiri’s works from her personal archive, a small selection of private and institutional loans, and a work from Te Manawa Art Society’s Manawatū Art Collection.
