Pip Culbert @ Robert Heald

Tabliers presents five works by British artist Pip Culbert (1938–2016), dating from around 2005. Culbert studied at the Royal College of Art in London, graduating in 1961, and first exhibited in Aotearoa New Zealand in 1993. Her practice is known for works made by cutting away the fabric of everyday textiles and garments, leaving seams, hems and structural joins to form pared-back linear compositions. She exhibited at Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa in 2001 in More and Less, alongside Shigeyuki Kihara, and works by Culbert are held in Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa’s collection.

Presented in association with Fox Jensen McCrory, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
