GALLERY ASSOCIATE
Part time position
15-30 hours per week
 
Trish Clark Gallery, located in Auckland’s Putiki St art precinct, is a long-established art gallery presenting projects by renowned and emerging artists from both Hemispheres, covering diverse practices and three generations. The Gallery is seeking an outgoing and cheerful candidate with an established background in the arts. You will bring a breadth of skills and a willingness to shoulder responsibility, and the flexibility and confidence to undertake this dynamic and varied role. You will be calm and mature, and have qualifications and experience in the arts sector. Along with excellent attention to detail, you will be practiced in strategic and structural thinking. Working closely with the Director, the ideal candidate will be an independent worker, self-motivated, good at self-review, and comfortable with a high level of responsibility. Based on site at the gallery in Grey Lynn, Auckland, the Gallery Associate will work on the gallery’s day-to-day operations, communications, website, exhibition programme and events, and online stores; writing capability is important in this role.

APPLICABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Qualification in art history or visual arts
  • 3+ Years experience in the arts sector
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand art
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Practiced in strategic and structural thinking
  • Relationship management: artists, contractors, clients
  • Highly computer literate, competent in Word, Excel and Mail
  • Communications and social media management, ideally familiar with Campaign Monitor, Instagram, Word Press, Mailchimp etc
 
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Postgraduate qualification in art history or visual arts or other
  • Prior commercial gallery experience
  • E-commerce experience, especially Shopify
  • Experience with Photoshop and InDesign
 

This is a part time role, 15-30 regular hours worked across Wednesday to Saturday, flexible for the right candidate. This position might suit someone balancing work with their own artistic or family commitments. Remuneration for this role will reflect the candidate’s skills and experience and hours worked.
