Help frame A Village Fair

Mackelvie Society are seeking support to frame a painting by Pieter Brueghel the Younger.

Over the last three years the Auckland Art Gallery’s conservation team has been working on a major project to restore Pieter Brueghel the Younger’s A Village Fair (Village Festival in Honour of Saint Hubert and Saint Anthony) dated circa 1615–20, an artwork in the Mackelvie Collection housed at the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. To complete this project and have the artwork ready for display in the Mackelvie Gallery by October 2023, it requires a suitable frame.

A superb aged timber model from the Paul Mitchell workshop in London has been secured. Mitchell specialises in period frame making and represents the gold standard in the museum industry.

Donors will be invited to a special event at the Conservation Laboratory with painting conservator Genevieve Silvester, limited to 12 attendees. For more information please click here
