Jaimie Jenkins, Falling and Falling

6 – 29 June 2024
Jaimie Jenkins, Raku Whorl, 2024, stoneware, 7 pieces. Installation view, Jhana Millers, Falling and falling, 2024

In 2023, Jaime traveled to America, Europe, and the UK, drawing particular inspiration for this new body of work from the galleries and museums in New York, as well as the ancient architecture and history of Greece and Italy. Upon returning to Aotearoa, Jaime took up a residency on Aotea (Great Barrier Island), where she was captivated by stargazing, snorkeling, and diving.

Reflecting on her travels, Jaime immersed herself in the coastal and celestial environments. A core source of inspiration for Jaime’s ceramics is her love of nature and natural forms. Aotea’s kelp forests, rock formations, and clear night skies will be recognizable in these new works, alongside more architectural elements. Falling and falling merges these diverse experiences and worlds.
