Julia Morison, Vademecum II

10 September – 5 October 2024
Vademecum II, Julia Morison. Webb's, Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, 2024.

A Wellington selling exhibition featuring a significant suite of works from one of Aotearoa’s leading artists, Julia Morison. Comprised of 100 individual A4 pages made on a variety of substrates, Vademecum II continues Morison’s deep interest in, and exploration of, systems for arranging and understanding the world. With all works available for immediate sale, collectors have a rare opportunity to secure Morison’s museum-worthy artwork for their own collections.

Vademecum II : As the name suggests, the body of work is a revisiting of Julia Morison’s inaugural Vademecum works, produced in 1986. The first iteration of Vademecum (a Latin word referring to a guide or book which can be carried around and easily consulted) was what saw Morison first consolidate a deep interest in systems for arranging and understanding the world. So significant were these works to Aotearoa’s art history, the entirety of the suite is in the possession of The Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
