Kristy Gorman and Adrienne Vaughan, Two Painters

Kristy Gorman was born in Tapanui in 1969 and graduated from the School of Fine Arts at the University of Canterbury Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha in 1992. In 1995 her work was included in the exhibition, A Very Peculiar Practice: Aspects of Recent New Zealand Painting, curated by Allan Smith for City Gallery Wellington Te Whare Toi. In 2001 she was recipient of the Olivia Spencer Bower Foundation Award. In 1996 she received the Govett Brewster Art Gallery Aotearoa New Zealand Artist Residency. Gorman’s work is represented in public and private collections, including that of the Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū.

Adrienne Vaughan was born in Auckland in 1978. She graduated with a Masters of Design in Painting from Unitec Te Whare Wānanga o Wairaka in 2012. Her work has been seen in group exhibitions including Painting: A Transitive Space, curated in 2016 by Simon McIntyre for AUT Te Wānanga Aronui o Tāmaki Makau Rau. In 2015-16 her work was included in the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki exhibtiion, Necessary Distraction: A Painting Show. Vaughan has exhibited with Anna Miles Gallery since 2012.
