Rising Voices: Contemporary Art from Asia, Australia and the Pacific @ Victoria and Albert Museum

Across geographies and communities, and reflecting on a changing relationship with the past, Rising Voices reveals both diversity and commonality in art-making across the region, marking a pivotal moment in the dialogue between the local and the international that the Asia Pacific Triennial has championed for over three decades.

The exhibition moves through three thematic sections—Re-Visioning History, Enduring Knowledge and Evolving Faith—spanning responses to migration, conflict and social upheaval through to inherited making traditions, ceremonial practices and expressions of spirituality. Aotearoa New Zealand is represented by artists including Michael Parekōwhai, Kushana Bush, Yuki Kihara and Zac Langdon-Pole, with works ranging from Parekōwhai’s Kapa Haka (Whero), 2003, to Bush’s Hark, 2018, Kihara’s video work Siva in Motion, 2012, and Langdon-Pole’s Another World Inside this One, 2024.
