Curated by Laura Crespi and Tia Aoke, War & Pieces is Ted Scott’s first exhibition. It brings together 58 years of collage and painting, from figures cut out of Vietnam-era press photographs in the late 1960s to two new feature pieces: Gaza, Eye for an Eye (2026) and Ukraine Landscape, Putin’s War (2025).

Each figure stands on a flat ground of red or blue, cut from the printed record of the wars it describes. Alongside them hang the photographs that came first: London and the south coast of England in the 1950s and ’60s, and the Aotearoa New Zealand coast he has photographed since 1981.
There has been a war somewhere for every day of his life, Ted says, so he records it in paint.
